One underrated aspect of Naramata is how easy it is to explore outdoors.
While the Okanagan in general is known as one giant playground, this village has an incredible setup for all types of outside activities. Whether you’re interested in adrenaline-high mountain biking, leisurely paddles out on the water, or wine tours that only require steps from the van to the tasting room, Naramata has a diverse lineup of businesses geared for all types of outdoor play.
To help get you going, we’ve set you up with a variety of businesses who offer rentals, tours, and all types of beach goodies so you can spend your day as you should: discovering all this village has to offer in spring.

Sun N Sup: Naramata’s Paddleshop Since 2010
Located kitty-corner from the General Store, Sun N Sup is a stand-up paddle board and beachwear shop located in the heart of the village. They sell paddleboards, SUP paddles, all the accessories, as well as a selection of summer clothing. You can rent, demo, and even buy your own paddleboard, which is especially useful after you’ve partaken in a lesson—another service they offer.
And a little known secret? They also rent kayaks! Just make sure you get in contact with them ahead of time to organize it.
Their shopfront is also just a vibe. Colourful, vibrant, and full of that quintessential Naramata charm, you can find the perfect new bathing suit, a graphic tee, beach bag, or the cutest little sundress ideal for surviving the heat. It’s got all that California, beachy energy with the right twist of local Okanagan character.
Where to Enjoy Watersports in Naramata?
After you’ve secured all your gear from Sun N Sup, you can easily walk to two different beaches. Key detail here? All their rentals come with wheels provided, making that trip to the water a breeze.
Manitou Beach and Wharf Park are two popular places to launch, but once you get out onto the water? The lake’s your oyster.
Imagine crystal blue waters and endless sunshine. Whether on a kayak, paddleboard, or your own canoe, you can cool down with a dip or sunbathe out on the calm waves. It wouldn’t be a true Okanagan experience without at least two hours out on the lake.

Freedom Bike Shop: Your One-Stop Shop for All Types of Cycling Fun

What Level of Bike Trails are in Naramata?
If it’s just transportation along the bench to and from different wineries, a family-friendly ride along the water, or more challenging rides, Naramata truly has it all. After you stock up on all the essentials at Freedom, it’s time to get the wheels spinning.
Of course, the KVR Trail is the most popular because it is truly user-friendly at just a 2.2% grade—which makes coming down all the more fun. Thanks to ongoing trail and bridge upgrades, plus signage and guidance, it’s easy to explore without any sense of getting lost. It also goes without saying that the views are spectacular. You know the iconic Okanagan photo of mountains meets lake? That about sums the whole trail up.
Now for more intermediate to advanced terrain, you’ve got three options:
- Okanagan Mountain Provincial Park
- Campbell Mountain
- Three Blind Mice Trails
Each comes with their own set of challenges, but things you can expect at each? Beautiful rocky bluffs, ponderosa pines, wildlife sightings, grasslands, and more. There is truly so much to discover in Naramata’s landscape.

Chute Lake Lodge: A Historic Mountain Retreat
Bringing the best of both worlds when it comes to watersports and scenic trail rides, Chute Lake Lodge is full of outdoor adventures. Thanks to its backcountry location you can experience the rugged landscape in all its splendor.
With a crisp mountain lake tucked next to this historic retreat, you can get out on the water with rented paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, and even motorboats to make the most of your trip. No gear? No problem. They rent lifejackets and tackle, too.
With access to the KVR, you can rent e-bikes and enjoy a leisurely ride or even hike the path. No matter your mode, you’ll still get those exceptional views while breathing in the fresh air. And for all our outdoor enthusiasts, you get front row access to plenty of local critters scattered throughout Chute Lake’s natural landscapes.

Naramata Wine Tastings with Sagebrush Tours, Grape Savvy, and the NBWA Passport
Okay, a wine tour might not seem like an outdoor adventure, but hear us out… There’s plenty of open-air patios, flowers, plants, that much-needed valley breeze, and wine’s made from grapes, so fresh fruit?
Perhaps this one’s not for those die hard outdoor enthusiasts, but tours offer a great opportunity to explore the bench. Thankfully, the Naramata Bench Wine Association (NBWA) has created the Insider’s Pass 2026 giving you incentive to visit as many of the 40+ wineries in the area as well as breweries and distilleries. The pass includes exclusive access to VIP tours, tastings, and experiences. You can purchase ahead of time or after you arrive in the village.
You do want to pre-book your tour, though. Thankfully you have two options: Sagebrush and Grapesavvy. Depending on your wants and timeline constraints, you can choose between half-day or full-day tours, private or group experiences, as well as the iconic Naramata Hop-On Hop-Off Trolley.

Naramata General Store & Frankie’s Beach Provisions: Offering All Your Naramata Needs
For those new to the area, a stop at the Naramata General Store is an absolute must. Don’t let the exterior fool you—this is more than your regular grocery store. Stocked on essential staples, they also have a deli, wine, beer, ice cream shop, postal service, and a selection of fun, beachy items everyone needs when visiting Naramata.
It’s how they’ve cultivated the identity of “curated convenience.” Why leave the village when it’s got everything you could possibly need? Family owned since 1979, they truly are a community hub for the area.
But perhaps most exciting is their latest neighbouring business, the newly opened Frankie’s Smoothie Bar & Beach Provisions! Stunningly revamped in gorgeous pink accents, this is the village’s newest staple for cute, eco-conscious beach sets, kids toys, towels, insulated drink bags, as well as reef-friendly sunscreens. They also sell a variety of snacks, smoothies, and… acai bowls!
After you’ve loaded up on charcuterie options from the General Store and a delicious milkshake from Frankie’s, you’re all set to enjoy a full day out at one of the beaches. Just pitch your umbrella, roll out that new beach towel, and keep your skin safe from the Okanagan sun.

This spring, do yourself a favour and play outside in Naramata style: supporting local businesses, exploring the unseen, and soaking up the endless Okanagan sunshine. You might just fall in love with this village the same way we have.
