Three Brands, Three Stories to Tell: Reintroducing TIME Family of Wines

When it comes to businesses with both an urban look and sophisticated feel, the entire portfolio of Time Family of Wines comes to mind. Because each location truly is a gem to discover.

With three separate brands both within and close to Penticton’s downtown core, Time Family of Wines offers what others cannot: tastings, happy hours, and a wine lounge all within city limits.

So let us reintroduce you to Time Family of Wines and why they’re a Penticton staple worth returning to time and time again.

Time Family of Wines is a combination of three well-known brands spread out across Penticton: Chronos Winery, OROLO Restaurant + Cocktail Bar, and Evolve Sparkling House.

Located within a few kilometres of one another, you could spend an entire afternoon touring each property, partaking in premium quality wine tastings, enjoying delicious bites or full meals and soaking in the beauty of each unique property.

This is because owners Ron and Shelley Mayert deeply care about the local community and natural landscape. Ron himself is a born and raised Summerland local, while Shelley grew up on a farm in the Fraser Valley; both their upbringings instilled strong BC roots and a deep appreciation for warm hospitality and the spirit of the Okanagan Valley. With vineyards spanning all the way from East Kelowna down to Osoyoos, you can taste their appreciation in each glass, plate, and moment shared across all three brands.

Honouring PenMar Theatre and Penticton’s Passage of Time

Before we introduce you to Chronos or OROLO, we have to discuss their location: the PenMar Theatre.

Up until 2012, locals and visitors alike flocked to this heritage theatre, which played a key role in Penticton memories; to this day, guests still reminisce about having their first date at the old cinema building, or other important moments spent within its walls.

Refurbished into a 20,000-square-foot building, this historic spot now houses the winery and steakhouse. Like a play on both brands’ names—Chronos is, after all, the Greek personification of time, and OROLO stems from horology, the study or art of measuring time—the space exudes touchpoints of local history throughout: the ceilings are all original wood; guests like to joke about the door that leads to nowhere up above because it used to connect to the projection room; the cellar sits where the theatre used to be; and the floor even slightly slants at an angle because it was the original flooring for Theatre 1.

The entire space is stylish and urban, while reflecting its roots.

Chronos Winery: Where the Urban Sprawl Meets Winemaking

Unlike most Okanagan wineries set within vineyards surrounded by nature, Chronos Winery is just steps away from Penticton’s downtown core. It’s part of the sprawling business sector, adding a sophisticated stop to enjoy a tasting between 2pm to 7pm, much later than most other wineries remain open.

What to do during summer when wait times for a restaurant can last up to 45 minutes? Pop into Chronos for an elevated Portfolio Tasting—maybe even with a behind-the-scenes tour when upgraded to their Signature Wine Thief Tasting. With comfortable banquettes and a warm ambiance, you can settle into the stylish room and taste the future of Okanagan winemaking while sitting amongst the echoes of Penticton’s past.

It truly is remarkable how urbanized the winery feels, offering an element you cannot find elsewhere. For example, during harvest, neighbouring apartment buildings get a first-hand view of the crushpad, something most wineries have tucked away on farm properties far outside city limits.

There’s a very present aspect of winemaking when it takes place within your neighbourhood. And the winery runs in conjunction with the restaurant hours, offering the perfect excuse to indulge in OROLO’s happy hour menu and delicious dining options once you wrap up your tastings…

OROLO: The Art of Gastronomy Never Feels Outdated

Continuing with the uniqueness of the old PenMar Theatre, OROLO now exists in what were theatres two, three, and four. Diners may enjoy the high, original walls and ceilings, beautiful windows overlooking bustling Martin Street, and a mix of stylized light fixtures and art.

OROLO is also one of the only official steakhouses in the area, offering an elevated and relaxed setting to enjoy great food in good company.

Like their name suggests, OROLO invites you to slow down and savour; even their current weekly specials encourage you to enjoy the moment with Seafood & Bubbles on Sundays, Tuesday Steak Date Night, and Wine Wednesdays.

But we really need to highlight the Happy Hour Menu, which many in the area don’t realize is such an exceptional deal. Offered daily between 4pm and 5pm, say hello to post-work drinks over a charcuterie board, 30% off cocktails, and affordable glasses of Chronos wines.

When they open the windows and that signature Okanagan Valley breeze cools you down in the summer, their patio is a happening choice for residents and tourists alike.

Evolve Sparkling House: Winery & Wine Lounge

Of course, many of you may know of the latest addition to Time Family of Wines portfolio: their new sparkling house, Evolve. Specializing in bubbles of all kinds, they offer everything from regular to low-alc all the way to non-alc options—which in today’s society is a fantastic addition to regular wine lineups.

Opened in July 2025, the design of this new property was entirely built upon the natural views. Inside you won’t find big art pieces or murals—a deliberate choice so that each visitor may enjoy the breathtaking Okanagan topography. You can sit outside on their patio bar, upper patio, or inside the family area and still enjoy lakeviews no matter where you stand. And nestled at the very start of the Naramata Bench, you can sip on bubbles with the backdrop of Okanagan Lake in a blissful view.

Evolve Sparkling House is so close to Penticton’s downtown—under 2 kilometres—that you can even see the marina, giving it a Mediterranean look and feel while still overlooking the city. Guests can access the property via the Kettle Valley Rail Trail (KVR), biking up or walking along the path, before stopping to enjoy their picnic area.

Thanks to their lounge license, Evolve is really less of a winery and more of a wine lounge. Visitors can purchase by the glass, a whole bottle, and then add-on lounge food options from their kitchen. It’s the type of place you return to each week not to “taste” but to linger out on the patio—that meet-up spot you and your girls continue to visit for post-work hangs thanks to the elegant and refined atmosphere.

Trust us when we say it is Penticton’s elevated patio.

And their wine lineup isn’t young—some vintages go back to 2017 and 2018, getting at least 5-6 years of aging before you pop them open. For those who don’t know, in the sparkling world, the more a wine ages the better and more fine the bubbles. This is because Time Family of Wines began making these bottles far before they knew they would open a sparkling house, or that it would win Canada’s Best Sparkling Wine the same year it opened…

Three Brands, Three Stories to Tell

While all three brands exist underneath the Time Family of Wines banner, each has their own unique story, specific atmosphere, and select offerings for any occasion.

When it comes to date night, OROLO Restaurant + Cocktail Bar offers luxurious booths, earthy green colours, and that elevated steakhouse feel. Sip on Chronos or Evolve wines, exceptional cocktails, local craft beers, and choose between a selection of dishes like 30-day dry aged Ribeye or other options like halibut and duck. It’s the type of place that harks back to the cinema days, but with a touch of old Hollywood.

Chronos Winery is the perfect space for private events. With two board rooms, local companies can host a nice meeting space or even plan a longtable meal within the cellar. Peruse from their older vintages, or just enjoy a seated tasting experience built around team building.

As for your return post, Evolve Sparkling House has it all: the view, that patio lifestyle, an upcoming picnic space, KVR access, as well as an invitational atmosphere where everyone is welcome. You can enjoy bubbles with low-alc or even non-alc options, craft beers, a cocktail, and even a selection of kombuchas.

When it comes to their brands, it all depends on what you’re in the mood for.

Time Family of Wines is a local, Canadian-owned business with an exceptional lineup of offerings. Each property tells their own story, but all three brands share one central aspect: exceptional hospitality with local charm.

It’s time to rediscover these three brands.
