Celebrating #BCWineMonth with Okanagan Talent

Did you know that April is officially #BCWineMonth?!

Yep, you heard us correctly—rosé all day keeps the grey clouds at bay! Or something like that… But in all seriousness, living in the Okanagan is a wine-lovers paradise and we are so incredibly blessed to get to live and play in BC’s biggest wine region.

Last year’s devastating harvest left a lot of us concerned about the future of the valley’s grapegrowing sector, but thankfully, local businesses persevered and are now releasing many of their newest vintages. So now it’s on us to support them by stopping by for seasonal tasting, extraordinary events, and a curated selection of 2024 releases!

We’ve got the scoop on all things #BCWineMonth with different events going on all across the Okanagan so you can support our local wine region. Here are our top winners you don’t want to miss.

Cheers!

Gray Monk Easter Market (April 19th @ 12PM – 5PM)

Celebrate the long weekend in Lake Country with a stop at Gray Monk for their upcoming Easter Market this Saturday! Perfect for the whole family, you can expect local artisans, complimentary tastings of their 2019 Sparkling Rosé, as well as some tasty German treats for purchase!

Best part? No tickets or reservations needed—just come as you are and celebrate the season!

Comedy Night at Sandhill Urban Winery (April 24 @ 6:30 PM – 9PM)

Kelowna’s a happenin’ city, and Sandhill Urban Winery has plenty of exciting events this month—but we’ve got our eye on their Comedy Night! It’s sure to be an unforgettable evening full of laughter thanks to their headliner and special guest performers, but, of course, a selection of excellent Okanagan wines.

Have a taste of their small production, high quality vintages while you laugh a little and live a lot. Tickets are necessary, so hop on that!

Grizzli Winery’s Vineyard Dinner and Live Music at 31 Charkay! (April 26 @ 6PM – 8PM)

Looking for the perfect combo of BC wines, BC flavours, and live entertainment? Then don’t miss out on Grizzli Winery’s upcoming Vineyard Dinner in West Kelowna!

It’s a rare experience to enjoy a three-course meal while being serenaded for two hours by the ROM collective—a rollicking, energetic, powerhouse pop/rock trio. Oh and of course, lots of wine!

Lightning Rock’s Easter Weekend Spring Preview (April 18 @ 11AM – April 21 5PM)

Just for the Easter long weekend, Summerland’s Lightning Rock Winery is opening up their doors ahead of their regular May launch! Get ready for some delicious vibrant spring sips and early spring sunshine out on their patio.

For just $15 per person you can get a taster of their upcoming selection. The perfect way to support BC’s wine industry and raise a glass over Easter weekend!

Bringing it all Back Home…A Spring Tasting for Locals on The Bench (April 26th @ 11AM – 5PM)

Take a leisurely drive up and along the Naramata Bench later this April for a spring release aimed right at the locals! Before these wineries release their newest vintages to the big markets, get a taste of what they’ve been working on.

Some wineries aren’t open yet for the season, but they’ll be opening their doors for this community event with FREE tastings for Okanagan residents. Need we say more?

Tinhorn’s Longtable Dinner – Canter Cellars at Miradoro (April 29 @ 6:30PM)

Tinhorn Creek Winery has plenty of exciting events this month like their Easter Brunch, but we’re particularly interested in their Longtable Dinner ft. Canter Cellars! Explore two of Oliver’s top wineries with this event and let Canter’s winemakers guide you through their selection while you enjoy Miradoro Restaurant’s delicious food pairings.

It’s not often you see a winery supporting other winemakers, but that’s just what #BCWineMonth is all about! We love seeing the Okanagan camaraderie.

Nk’Mip Cellars – Easter Brunch (April 20 @ 11AM – 3:30PM)

If you’re looking for the perfect wine & food Easter Brunch, check out Nk’Mip Cellars in Osoyoos! They’ve got a delicious Easter Sunday service featuring some of Chef Shawn Cheer’s favourite recipes, and, weather permitting, patio seating!

Don’t worry, if there’s April showers then they’ve got you covered with indoor seating at their Knowledge Keepers Lounge—but reservations are required!

So there you have it folks! So many amazing wine-related things going on across our valley, from north to south, all in support of our local wine industry. Supporting your neighbour has never looked—or tasted—better!

We here at Editors’ Picks have a deep love and appreciation for fine wines, and that’s one of the reasons we love supporting businesses and brands. No two are alike, and each one offers something truly unique. So raise a glass with us this April in support of #BCWine Month! We might just be next to you on that sunny patio…
