So much of fall travel in the Okanagan is centred around wineries, harvest dinners, spas, and polished resort getaways. And we definitely don’t mind that. But our region has so much more to offer. So this season, we challenge you to go a little rugged.
Think cold cheeks, muddy boots, big sweaters, bike rides or morning hikes, a sauna steam, cabin mornings, dinner after spending the day outside, and drinks around the fire.
You can picture it, can’t you? That one place in the valley where all the above awaits: Chute Lake Lodge.

Come Back with Muddy Boots
There’s something healing about trekking mountain mud back to your car at the end of your visit.
Maybe it’s the fresh mountain air. Maybe it’s spending an afternoon with absolutely nowhere else you need to be. Or maybe, it’s just the satisfaction of coming back with muddy boots and a good reason to spend the rest of the day doing very little.
Up at Chute Lake Lodge, you don’t need much of a plan. Take the long way around the lake. Wander a little farther than you intended. Stop somewhere along the rail just because the view is worth it.
And when you’ve had enough of the outdoors? Head back, get comfortable, and settle into the quiet that’s incredibly hard to find.
Up here, you can get away from it all—or just go and get after it. With a clear mind. A backdrop to decompress. Because the emails, errands, and everything else can wait until Monday.

Get a Little Cold. Then Get Very Warm.
Cold cheeks from the November air. Warm cheeks from the sauna. We happen to think that’s a perfect way to spend the afternoon.
After a few hours outside, there’s something especially satisfying about stepping into the heat, letting the day slow down, and realizing you have absolutely nowhere else you need to be.
Feeling particularly adventurous? There’s always the lake for a very brisk dip. We’ll leave that decision entirely up to you…
And if you’re bringing your favourite people along, the Bellevue Cabin makes a pretty compelling case for a group getaway. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, room for up to twelve guests, and your very own private sauna.
Because sometimes the best plans are the ones that involve getting outside, coming back in, and staying put for the rest of the evening.

It’s also the best excuse to go analogue and break out that crib board, or other fan-favourite board games. Think a cup of tea or a crisp Okanagan lager in hand, some friendly competition, lots of belly laughter, and the type of memories you’ll share for years to come.
What can be better than exploring the woods in November with the people closest to you?

Trade the Tasting Room for the Trail
We love a good wine tasting as much as anyone, but there’s something to be said for enjoying your favourite Okanagan bottle a little farther from where it was made.
Up here, the itinerary looks a little different. An afternoon biking the KVR, a stop to take in the views of Okanagan Lake, and absolutely no rush to get back.
And when the day’s adventures are done? Trade the tasting glass for a tin mug, pour yourself a little Pinot, and find a spot around the fire.
You might end up swapping stories with a few fellow adventurers, catching some live music if the timing is right, or simply staying outside a little longer than you planned.
Sometimes the best part of getting away isn’t what you had planned. It’s everything that happens in between.

Fall Doesn’t Have to Feel Fancy to Be an Escape
Some weekends call for dressing up, while others call for your favourite oversized sweater, fuzzy socks, and a pair of Blundstones that have seen better days.
We happen to love both.
At Chute Lake Lodge, the dress code is pretty simple: come as you are. Spend the day outside, gather around the fire with your favourite people, or spend an entire afternoon doing very little at all.
There’s no pressure to make the most of every minute, no need to dress up for the occasion, and certainly no reason to set an alarm if you don’t want to.
Here, you can just exist in the moment and have that be enough.
Bedhead is welcome all day.

Chute Lake Lodge may exist off the paved roads, but it’s not without its comforts.
You can access wifi at the lodge to keep in the loop on any important updates, but do you really want to? We’ll let you decide… There are always warm showers available whether you’re in a cabin, yurt, or a lodge room.
And don’t forget to enjoy comforting meals in their restaurant. As of Thanksgiving weekend, food is only available over the weekend, so make sure to check them out before you leave urban amenities behind!
Current restaurant hours:
- Friday, 12PM–8PM
- Saturday, 8AM–8PM
- Sunday, 8AM–8PM
Or, in full rugged mode, visit throughout the week and bring your own camping meals. S’mores and wine have always been a great combination—in summer and autumn.

Maybe your ideal November weekend involves a long hike, a little adventure, and a glass of Okanagan wine around the fire. Or maybe it’s fuzzy socks, a good book, and absolutely no plans at all. Either way, we think there’s something pretty special about escaping to the mountains this time of year.
So pack the oversized sweaters, bring your favourite people, and leave a little room for the unexpected.
Fall looks a little different up at Chute Lake Lodge. And we think you’re going to love it.
Xx,
