Sandy Beach Lodge Ready for Another 30 Years

For the last 75 years, Sandy Beach Resort & Lodge has proudly stood on the shores of Okanagan Lake, slowly improving guest experience with new additions. This is thanks to the dedicated stewardship of the Corcoran  family who have owned and maintained this property for decades.

In the mid-90s, they decided to replace the 5 seasonal cottages with 13 log cottages to complement the existing log lodge, built in 1950. These log cottages would be winterized, so that they could turn Sandy Beach into a year-round vacation space. The idea behind this was to preserve it for the next 30 years.

And today, as they wrap up major renovations on the main lodge, that same mindset guides their upgrading decisions. Because years later, they still want to provide guests with memorable stays over the next three decades.

Sandy Beach Resort & Lodge is an Okanagan escape from your everyday thanks to 400 feet of pristine, sandy beachfront.

At its heart, this place is about family—and it always has been. It’s the vacation spot where mom and dad can hang out on their cottage porch, sipping that glass of local wine, barbecuing burgers all while the kids run around on the grass. This is where you catch that classic Okanagan sunset, swim in the lake, and meet other people around the property that you see year after year after year. It’s the vacation you look forward to every summer.

There are thirteen fully winterized cottages available on the property with spacious and stylish log designs. Each includes:

  • Air-contitioning
  • Fully equipped kitchen
  • Gas fireplace
  • Spacious front deck with lake views
  • BBQ
  • Two bedrooms (one with a queen, the other with two twin beds)
  • Additional sofa bed
  • Optional playpens (available on request)

The offerings are intention, providing you with a home away from home that doesn’t compromise your vacation needs.

But Sandy Beach also offers a more adult-friendly escape with six luxurious guest rooms located within the lodge—now newly renovated. Each guest room features either queen or king beds, air-conditioning, private verandas overlooking the stunning waterfront, ensuite bathrooms, and are designated adults-only. They also include complimentary plated and served breakfasts, as well as mini-bar refrigeration and coffee stations in each room.

Think of it as your perfect staycation getaway if you’re a local, and the ultimate home base to relax and lounge after you finish your wine tastings, your KVR bike ride or your seasonal hike. Essentially, it’s the ideal place to stay while you explore everything Naramata has to offer.

One feature we admire? The rooms do not include TVs, encouraging you to disconnect from the digital world and relax in the stunning oasis of Sandy Beach. But don’t worry, they have wi-fi available across the resort, meaning you won’t be fully unplugged if you need access to the wider world.

Over the last forty years since the Corcoran family purchased the property, there have been ongoing additions to make this resort even more accessible to guest needs. Originally only five cottages existed, which is the first major change the family made by building the thirteen you see today.

Other additions include the hot tub, the sun room where lodge guests enjoy their breakfasts overlooking the grass, air-conditioning for the 13 cottages and 6 lodge guest rooms—the list goes on. That’s because a big feature of this resort is asking guests about their stay and what could make it better; it isn’t uncommon to leave a note one year only to return and find that request fulfilled.

Today, here are a list of resort amenities you can expect to enjoy throughout your stay:

  • Water activities like canoes and rowboats
  • Heated outdoor pool and hot tub
  • Two floodlit tennis courts
  • Basketball court
  • Shuffleboard
  • Ping-pong
  • Bocce
  • Safe children’s play areas
  • Guest laundry facilities
  • Tesla charging stations

Since everyone uses the property for different purposes—bike trips along the KVR, wine tours, corporate retreats, family reunions, etc.—it was important to the family that all changes improve the property for multiple visitors.

The most recent renovations took place over the 2025 winter and into this spring, sprucing up the lodge itself with a clean, modern, minimalist style that incorporated more light. Now the floors are all original wood from the 1950s, with brand new fixtures, artwork, bathroom features, wallpaper and millwork, etc. The overall feel is more of an invitation to gather and enjoy the space together.

While the family still plays a major role in the operations, the faces you’ll see at Sandy Beach are Tania and Mark Lee, the current on-site resort managers. They live and breathe this property, staying at the lodge year-round and supporting guests with any needs.

For the Corcorans , it’s all about building a topnotch team. One question their parents instilled in them is, “Are the managers happy?” To this day they want to make sure their people are looked after, and that goes for all of the staff.

There’s no single person behind the resort—its a team effort to provide exceptional stays. A source of pride for the Corcorans is seeing staff members driving across the property on the golf cart, checking in on guests or seeing to tasks, and always with a smile on their face. It’s important that everyone has fun in this space, even while working.

That sense of care and commitment extends to guests, too.

Inside the cottages and lodge guest rooms, visitors will find a little book available where they can write about their stay, leaving stories behind for the next person to read. You can discover passages about John Smith or Jane Doe, watching how often they return by flipping backwards, finding out about who has enjoyed the space before you.

While they originally had a big book at the front desk to fulfill this niche, resort managers and Mark suggested including individual ones in the rentals.. Since not everyone does online reviews, this is another way to capture ways to improve the resort.

It’s also a fantastic way to capture guest satisfaction.

One thing’s for certain: the ultimate compliment in business is having people returning year after year. To the Corcorans, this means they’re doing something right. Guests still want to invest in this space as much as the memories they’ll make within it.

If you’re looking for the ultimate staycation spot within the Okanagan, or just your next summer destination, look no further than Sandy Beach Lodge & Resort. With 400 feet of pristine beachfront, a heated pool, hot tub, watersports and more, you can sit back with a glass of wine at the end of the day and bask in sweet Naramata sunshine.

Don’t blame us when you end up returning year after year just like the regulars.
