Embrace Slow Tourism With Naramata Blooms

Nestled along the eastern shores of Okanagan Lake, Naramata is the perfect destination to embrace slower moments this spring. With no street lights, no gas station, no chain or big box stores, locals and tourists alike can wrap themselves up with incredible small town charm unlike anywhere else in our valley.

Because Naramata is and always will be one warm and welcoming community at the end of the road.

There’s only one way in and one way out, making it the perfect place to stop by and stay awhile, savouring the endless outdoor adventures, beautiful parks and beaches, and family-run businesses. Naramata embodies the type of mindful, slow tourism that leaves a lasting impression on guests who take the time to connect with a place and its people, all in one breathtaking setting.

And in spring with Naramata Blooms? There’s no more magical time of year to visit.

Naramata Blooms is an annual celebration of spring along the Naramata Bench. Starting back in 2023, it now spans the entirety of April, May, and June with don’t-miss events, exclusive offerings, and incredible deals all geared towards celebrating a beautiful season in a beautiful destination.

Now is the perfect time to witness the awakening of the vines, fruit orchards in full blossom, and flowering laneways in every spring colour imaginable hidden throughout the village. As our valley warms up, locals and tourists alike can hit the hiking and biking trails, get out on the water for a refreshing paddle or kayak, and enjoy stargazing—all outside the hustle and bustle of peak tourist season.

While we all understand that tourism is the lifeblood to the Okanagan’s economy, it can quickly overwhelm the best of us when crowds triple in size later in the year. So, enjoy the tranquil quiet, a slower pace, and more intimate moments when you embrace slow tourism with Naramata Blooms!

Simply put, slow tourism means spending just a bit longer in one place to experience the people and culture in depth. Choose the off-the-beaten path and enjoy the local landscape, the first taste of spring wine releases, a peaceful ambiance wandering cozy streets, and the quaint village: this is the time for quieter moments, welcoming conversations, and hidden experiences.

There are truly so many ways to enjoy Naramata this season, but for a taster of the type of experiences and offers you can expect with Naramata Blooms, we’ve highlighted three you won’t want to miss! For the full list, be sure to visit Discover Naramata.

  1. Firstly, when it comes to award-winning wineries all within a 20 minute drive, there’s nothing like the Naramata Bench. For wine lovers, this season they have an Insider’s Pass that includes deals at over thirty businesses! It’s a great way to support BC wineries directly all while enjoying VIP tours, tastings, and tours along that beautiful winding road.
  2. For locals or tourists looking for a charming weeknight experience, don’t miss out on Bocce Basics at D’Angelo Winery every Thursday, from 5 to 7pm. It’s the best place to sip, swirl, and roll while learning the art of bocce ball in a relaxed and warm atmosphere. They’ll even have their food truck on site so you can make a whole evening out of it!
  3. Later this month, don’t miss out on Naramata’s 102nd annual May Day Celebration at Manitou Park! A beloved spot for local Naramations, this long weekend event includes a maypole dance, bike decorating, as well as a series of snacks, races, and crafts. It’s the type of event that leaves you feeling full of the community spirit Naramata is known for.

Naramata is the place for authentic, quality, slow travel experiences that support the local community and people who make this destination so special. The Bench is truly a remarkable place to live and work, evident by the camaraderie between the small businesses all across the village. You can feel this guiding kindness in every interaction, every smile, every “thank you for visiting!”

Experience this level of thoughtful hospitality, incredible experiences, and breathtaking views throughout all the springtime celebrations. We’ll see you there!
